Claire Wozniak

From here, the rocks look like teeth.

There are times I still feel her close.

The weight of her hands–
How gentle she could be–

Like the crest of a wave before it

So soft in the interim.

The sea is howling
& I am hungry too.

But I am a girl

which is to say
I am sorry.

There was nothing more I could do.
